I need help and some advice or encouragement. My son Tyson, 4 mo., was born with "mild" club foot on the right foot. His left foot is fine. He went thru 5 weeks of casting and a heel cord surgery. He got the cast off from the surgery last Monday. I was told he needed the shoes on 23 hours a day. Well. he hates his shoes. He will not sleep for more than 30 45 min. and then will wake up crying. He went from a baby that slept all night to not sleeping at all, unless I give up and take the bar off the shoes in the middle of the night. I did that on day 3 of no sleep, because I was going crazy. I don't know if I am giving up to easy, he is hard headed (like my husband) or expecting too much too soon. It has been seven days of trying to keep the shoes on and Tyson is showing NO signs of getting "used" to them. Please tell me. I can take it! I would recommend the monitor to anyone, so maybe give it a try. I started with naps to see if he liked it before spending the money though. It will get better, in time. My son made the transition a little sooner, but it's always hard at first. We have the Dobbs bar and my son has never minded it (after he got used to it after a couple days). We are thankful and cautiously optimistic that we have finally, after nearly 5 months of blisters, crying, and being on the verge of insanity that we have potentially found a solution. If you continue to struggle don't give up. Obviously you know it's best for your child to wear the braces, but it's also important to be an advocate for your baby. They can't speak up and tell you or the doctor what is wrong. If you think something isn't right, call your doctor! And don't be satisfied with excuses or let them feel like YOU are doing something wrong.
