Throughout subsequent years, the event became a venue for neighbors to meet and celebrate the holiday season. Early on, only a dozen or so musicians performed on porches. Today, over seventy entertainment groups volunteer their time and talent for this event. As someone who attended the very first event in my first year living in the greater Heights, I can tell you how amazed and delighted I am that it has grown as it has, because there are few events that so express what it's like to live in this small town in the heart of a big city. Still, LITH has always been an all volunteer, small time event, and with so many people coming in, it can be a bit of a logistical nightmare. It's a tribute to the WHCA and the residents of that part of the Heights that they are committed to continuing it in the face of these obstacles.
