Mountain biking is one of the most popular outdoor activities in America, and it's easy to see why: Few other sports combine heart pumping exercise with such breathtaking views and close communion with nature. In 2008, approximately 7.6 million Americans hit the trail, a 10 percent increase over 2007 [source: Outdoor Foundation]. The numbers are even more impressive for younger riders, whose participation in the sport rose 17 percent. One of the best things about mountain biking is that it embraces a wide range of skill levels and riding styles. Casual riders can head out with the family for a leisurely cross country run through the forest, while serious cyclists can compete in hair raising downhill races or get airborne with extreme freeriding. Whatever your style, the right mountain biking gear is essential to creating an enjoyable riding experience. If you hit the trail with the wrong shoes, the wrong shorts and the wrong protective equipment, you could run the risk of painful blisters, overheating and even serious injury. Metheny left Cleveland in late 2008 for Chicago, taking over as head programmer for the Tribune Company legendary flagship AM news talk station, WGN. He seems to be up to his old Virus tricks, there, too, judging from the hue and cry from WGN fans on the Internet, some of whom have even started their own Facebook fan page, in his blog. He recently wrote that Metheny moves seem to be intentionally to anger and alienate WGN traditional listeners and break the bonds of trust between the station and its audience that date back more than 80 years. has been more traumatic than you can even imagine because 'GN is such a heritage, important station," Feder said in a phone interview Friday. "Metheny is not just coming in and changing any old station. It was the No. 1 station in the market, the No. 1 billing station in the market. And what he has done is just unbelievable."That is why you are seeing things like this Facebook page. "This is a grass root effort from listeners. These are people who are just outraged. These are not people with an ax to grind, these are not competitors. There is a real bond that people have with WGN radio. They really feel a kinship to the station. What he has done is squander all that good will and all of that good reputation in some weird effort to lower the demographics and to remake the station."You can read more on the WGN situation in these two Feder posts:A rude Virus infects WGN radioAfternoon adrift as WGN rearranges deck chairsWGN is one of the oldest and most established news talk stations in the United States, a power in the industry for decades because of its close association with the Tribune Co., and its flagship newspaper the Chicago Tribune. It has the radio home of the Chicago Cubs and has a national reach, too, with a powerful signal at 720 on the AM dial that reaches half the country at night.were a well respected station for decades, says Cleveland based radio consultant John Gorman, who helped build Cleveland WMMS into an FM powerhouse in the 1970s and when you start slashing people and cutting costs, the quality suffers. Then, all it takes is one person. It really about cutting costs. When you start replacing people who are established in the market with less experienced people, the quality level goes down and it begins to affect the time spent listening to the station. It doesn take long to upset the audience. his tenure in Cleveland, Metheny was Clear Channel man, says Gorman, trimming on air talent and production staff and pushing other consolidation measures at the company six local stations WMMS/100.7, WGAR/99.5, WMJI/105.7, WMVX/106.5, WTAM/1100 and WAKS/96.5.had a volatile time here, says Gorman. in radio say he was not an easy guy, that dealing with him was like a daily root canal. His big focus here was trying to build WTAM into the city top radio station. He is the one who really put Mike Trivisonno front and center and turned Triv into whatever he is today. He definitely turned WTAM into something. But I not sure it is something to be proud of. left a message for Metheny on his WGN voice mail, asking for comment. We'll update this post as soon as he gets back to us. We asked parents of 3 and 4 month olds to share their baby's daily schedule, then picked the seven below as a helpful representation. (If you have a baby this age, share your routine in the comments section at the bottom of this page!)As you're creating a schedule for your baby, keep in mind that at 3 and 4 months most babies need:Six or 7 ounces of breast milk or formula per feeding, though limit this amount to 32 ounces in a 24 hour period. (Get specific tips on how to tell whether your baby is getting enough breast milk or formula.) Some parents start solid foods like rice cereal when their baby is 4 months old. About 15 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period this includes nighttime sleep and naps. Three naps during the day (morning, afternoon, and evening) is typical. Try reading to your little one, giving your baby a massage or bath, or going for a stroller walk. I hold him for a while and try to feed him a bottle. He usually has about an ounce. He won't eat for the first two hours that he's up. (I guess he won't be a breakfast kid!)I get ready for work and play with him at the same time. We look in the mirror and laugh. He does some tummy time. He smiles all the way there (this baby does not cry). We have a mirror in the backseat near his car seat so he laughs at himself. Once there, I hand him over. (Sad.) Throughout the day he eats, does tummy time, takes naps, plays with other babies, and so on. They have no TV there, so he doesn't watch television. (I get to work early so I can get home early.) He is usually smiling. We go home. After his bath, we play some more. Usually he gets hungry again. 1 2 3 4 5 Reading how other parents schedule, makes me wonder if my daughter is getting enough sleep. She up at 5 5:30a to eat, then will take a cat nap around 6:30 7. Goes to daycare and probably sleeps at 11 for sometimes 2 hours, depending on her mood. She takes another nap somewhere in between (total of 3 naps while at daycare). I pick her up at 3:30 4, she is fed by then, but will take another cat nap once we home for 30 mins between 4:30 5:15. Then it bathtime at 6:15 6:30, we feeding her at 7, or after bath and she falls asleep on the bottle. She isn waking up during the nights anymore, but she be up right at 5:30 to start the day again. So it roughly 10 hours at night and i sure her naps equal up to 4 hours. My work schedule is about to change though, so i worried that her sleeping schedule will be messed up. My baby is 3.5 months. I work four days/week right now. My work day schedules are wake her at 6:30 to nurse. Daycare at 7:30, work by 8. I go to daycare and nurse her at 10:30. She usually has a pumped bottle around 2:30; I pump at work at 2:30. Pick her up at 5 home at 5:30 and feed her immediately. Feed her again around 8:15. Bed around 9:15. Sometimes she wakes to eat around 3 othertimes she sleeps through. When I home with her I let her direct the traffic and she eats more often (every 3 hours).
