"Both of us are very competitive," Morton said. "He has a little more experience than I do at this level. I'm getting there." On Joseph Randle's 62 yard touchdown run in the first quarter, Blackmon took Morton deep on an apparent route. "By the time I saw him, he was already 30 yards down the field," Morton said. "My man is Blackmon; I'm keyed on him. I see him running vertical, and I'm thinking, 'Hey, it's a go route.' Once I sneak a peek back, I see the ball coming at me. "I made a little move and Blackmon tried to block me and he fell, and once he fell, (Randle) took it to the house. It was a great run." Morton said the experience of matching up with Blackmon was "very fun." "He's very humble," Morton said. "Just getting a chance to guard him, making me better. Hopefully, I'll see him again." GUNDY: SIMS STILL MATURING True freshman running back Herschel Sims rushed for an 81 yard touchdown in the fourth quarter and finished with 104 yards on eight carries. OSU coach Mike Gundy said Sims wasn't buying in at first but has changed his attitude "considerably" to earn playing time. "We moved him down on the scout team for a few weeks, and he wouldn't buy in," Gundy said. "Fortunately for us and for him, he decided that he needed to buy in and maximize his potential." Gundy stressed that Sims' story isn't an abnormal one; lots of young players go through the same thing. "He's not the first guy that's gone through that; it happens all the time," Gundy said. "You go from being the star in high school to getting to this level and nobody knows who you are, and you get knocked around in practice, and it's not as fun as it used to be. "He still has a long way to go, but his attitude changed." GRIFFIN: GILBERT 'SLINGSHOTTED' TO GET ENDZONE PICK Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III had a pass intercepted in the end zone early in the second quarter by Justin Gilbert, who returned it to the Cowboys' 27 yard line. Griffin said Gilbert deployed a common trick called "slingshotting" where cornerbacks grab a receiver and slyly pull them forward. "He just did it sly enough that the ref didn't see it or the ref saw it and thought it was funny, I don't know," Griffin said. Swelling remains a serious issue for most patients. While each person will recover at a different rate, doctors expect patients to return to work between six and eight weeks for office jobs and three to six months for physically demanding labor. Return to work should also be phased; three half days in the first week, two full days in the second week, five half days in the third week, and full time by week four. After your hip replacement surgery, you will most likely be in the hospital for three to five days. In some cases, patients will stay for additional days of rehabilitation, but typically discharge takes place within one week. If you are having both hips replaced, called "bilateral" surgery, then it will probably take you longer to recover, both in hospital and during rehabilitation. The type of work you do will determine the length of time before you can return. Patients return to desk jobs and administrative work the soonest, on average about six weeks after the surgery. Patients who do extremely well could return as early as one week, but this decision is up to the discretion of you and your doctor. Returning to manual labor is significantly prolonged for obvious reasons. The average return date to a job that requires heavy lifting or excessive activity is three to six months.Keep in mind that full recovery for most patients undergoing hip replacement surgery is about six to twelve months. When you can return to work is based on your progress in physical rehabilitation, levels of pain, and overall adjustment, following the operation. I was very active prior to surgery, in spite of the discomfort, and am amazed at how quickly my recovery has progressed. 5 weeks after my surgery I was walking up to 3 miles. 8 weeks after I hiked a 4,000 ft peak. 12 weeks out I'm back to road biking and I've climbed a 6,200 ft peak. At this point, I seemed to have regained most of my strength in the old leg.""I'm 10 1/2 weeks out and I have been riding a stationary bike consistently since I have had permission to drive at 6 weeks. I started taking Yoga and Pi Yo this week and tied my shoes for the first time post op after a PI Yo class. Finally ended up taking my first spinning classes in months.""Today is exactly 90 days post op minimally invasive THR. I'm 54 and my recovery has been going great. I went back to work in 2 months and initially had some pretty strong pain. My job calls for me to be on my feet for 5 7 hrs., but the surgeon told me to get off my feet for 15 20 mins. I had pain, so that's what I did. Within 3 weeks that pain has resolved itself. He told me you can expect pain in the muscles and joint for up to 6 months. He also said if you saw how much abuse is done to the muscles and femur you would understand while it takes a while to heal. Total 100% healing is 18 months."Rehabilitation therapy can take up to several weeks. During this time, you may assess your performance and determine whether you are ready to return to work. It is generally advised by doctors that active sports are delayed until after a full recovery. In the first four weeks, you will most likely be using a walker. In addition, a knee immobilizer is intended to be used at night or when sleeping in order to prevent the hip from dislocating. Most doctors ask that the immobilizer be used for six weeks following the surgery.Recovery time differs dramatically from patient to patient, and the examples given in this article are only meant as rough estimates. Make sure you speak to your doctor about any concerns you may have regarding rehabilitation and recovery. The BoneSmart National Consumer Awareness Campaign's mission is to raise patient awareness of the options available to persons diagnosed as a knee or hip joint replacement candidates by providing an Internet portal for awareness of the latest advances in joint replacement materials, their longevity and suitability for various applications. With this information the potential patient may be better informed when discussing options with his or her surgeon.

SU end Chandler Jones jumped on it at the Louisville 23 yard line, Ross Krautman came on minutes later and drilled a 23 yard field goal and Syracuse led 17 14 at the half. The play changed Strong strategy. We didn need that to happen. We needed to run the football and just play physical. was the gist of Strong halftime message to an offensive line that features four senior starters, a group SU coach Doug Marrone worried about in the days leading up to the game because of its size and experience. Never mind that the Cards were playing without starting quarterback Adam Froman and 1,000 yard rusher Bilal Powell. Strong sensed he had something just as potent, if not as flashy, up his sleeve.what he told us, senior guard Josh Byrom said. said our quarterback was out this week, our running back was out this week, but so what? We have the same offensive line. LouisvilleStrong told them to go out and win the game. They did, snapping an 11 game Big East road losing streak and denying SU (6 3, 3 2) a chance to qualify for a postseason bowl for the first time since 2004. Held without a single yard during a second quarter in which a 14 7 lead became a 17 14 deficit, Louisville (5 4, 2 2 Big East) scored on long touchdown drives on its first two possessions of the second half and prevailed 28 20.very proud of our offense, Strong said. two best players are down, and this (Syracuse) team comes in here with an attitude about them, and it was just so great to see our offense respond the way they did. did it the old fashioned way, by pushing one of the nation best run defenses off the line of scrimmage in the second half. The Cardinals rushed for 115 yards after the break on 26 punishing carries and finished with 160 against a D that was allowing only 120 yards per game on the ground at opening kickoff. The performance took the pressure off Burke, who had to step into the starting lineup when Froman went down last week with a leg injury.a little rusty obviously, like you would imagine, the senior said of his first start of the season. when I get a running game like that I really get into a rhythm and I think the offense gets into a rhythm, and I think that important for all of us. We were able to come into the second half and we stuck to our plan. game plan was obvious to all in attendance.just came out and said we were going to be stubborn running the football, Burke said. keep on going, four or five yards a carry. We hit some big ones for 10, 12 yards. We never hit a really big one, but we stayed on track. commitment to the ground game and its effectiveness produced a lopsided second half in which the Cards controlled the ball for 10 minutes, 19 seconds in the third quarter after holding it only 11:26 the entire first half. Powell backups, specifically redshirt freshman Jeremy Wright (19 carries for 98 yards), were solid. It was the big uglies up front, though, who turned the tide.know this: Our offensive line is a senior laden group, Strong said, we know we can run the ball because we a physical team. When we get to throwing it we get behind the chains. was little chance of that happening in the second half, as the Cards averaged 4.4 yards per carry after intermission, and that average was skewed by several short runs into the middle of the line of scrimmage when they were bleeding the clock at the end.believe Coach Strong believed in what our offensive line was doing, especially in the second half, Burke said. guys tore it up. began, Byrom said, with Strong message to his veteran linemen after watching Burked get sacked and fumble near the end of the first half. The game was in their hands.needed to make a statement, and that what we talked about at halftime, Byrom said. ran the rock. That first drive of the second half, just driving down the field on them, it really took over the game for us. a big time blitz team, Burke said, they very aggressive and they all run to the football and play very hard. When they don stop the run, it what you saw in the second half. That what happens. was that basic. Brutally basic.
