What Are FitFlops?FitFlop shoes are a range of toning shoes. They include sandals, slippers, sneakers, winter boots and clogs. They started life in the UK after Marcia Kilgore, the founder of Bliss spa products, found that she didn't have enough time to get to the gym and workout as often as she might have liked. Instead of simply accepting the situation, she worked in partnership with London South Bank University (LSBU) to develop FitFlops sandals, which incorporate a special toning sole that gives the wearer a lower body workout just by walking around. The special "microwobbleboard" sole introduces a small amount of instability into the walking process. What that means is that the muscles in the lower body, the legs and bottom in other words, work a little bit harder to maintain the body's natural balance. And hence, the lower body workout. Most reviews of FitFlops focus heavily on the toning benefits. It's perfectly understandable getting a free lower body workout just by putting on a different pair of shoes is a pretty big deal after all. However, FitFlops are, as anyone who owns a pair will probably tell you, extremely comfortable to wear and to walk in. Just How Comfortable Are FitFlops? The pressure map above shows areas of high pressure in red and areas of low pressure in blue. This was generated as a result of tests on 20 subjects performed at Salford University in the UK. As you can see, the standard shoe on the left has more red areas than the FitFlop shoe on the right. It's also pretty obvious that there is more support when wearing FitFlops, especially in the area of the arch. The same sole that provides all of those lovely toning benefits also provides extra support and, because of its construction, maximises the contact area between the sole of the foot and the sole of the shoe. The result of this is that the weight of the body is distributed across the sole of the foot in a more even and uniform manner and that's why FitFlops are so comfortable to wear and to walk in. User FeedbackIf you speak to someone who wears FitFlops you might expect them to tell you about the great toning benefits of their magic shoes. However, don't be surprised if they spend a lot more time talking about how comfortable their FitFlops are instead. Wearers almost seem to view the toning benefits as a (very nice) bonus to the comfort factor. You also shouldn't be surprised if you find out that they have more than one pair of FitFlops quite possibly they will have their own little collection. The video below gives a bit of background to FitFlops and also features some feedback from actual wearers. FitFlop Video With User Feedback The Latest Addition To The FitFlop RangeIt's a testament to the comfort of FitFlops that the latest addition to the FitFlop Gogh clogs range is the Gogh Pro. This is specifically targeted at hospital and other shift workers who spend a good part of their working day/night on their feet. The Gogh Pro is available in black and white and features a non slip, non marking sole. It also has a pivoting heel/ankle strap for a secure fit with the convenience of a slip on style. According to the company website, it is the result of lobbying by existing customers who were aware of the comfort of FitFlops and wanted something suitable for the workplace. So now you workout while you work. Other Toning Footwear ResourcesToning Shoes Do They Work? How does the idea of getting a lower body workout without setting foot in the gym appeal to you? It certainly sounds appealing, maybe even too good to be true. It basically involves walking with poles. Even among Yankees fans, though, Brian Schlitter is hardly a known commodity. Over the last six months, the biggest stories in the Bronx revolved around the pitchers the Yankees didn't get. Schlitter is an example of what the Bombers did get: little known pitchers with proven track records in the minor leagues who, potentially, could help the big league team in the bullpen at some point in 2011. A right hander originally drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 16th round of the 2007 amateur draft, Schlitter was claimed off waivers by the Yankees earlier this month. The 25 year old got his first taste of the big leagues with the Chicago Cubs last season, pitching to a less than stellar 12.38 ERA. He allowed 18 hits in eight innings, but he has a live sinking fastball and a run of minor league success that made claiming him worth a gamble to the Yankees. At Triple A Iowa last season, he was the Cubs' closer and recorded 13 saves to go along with a 3.15 ERA and 1.42 WHIP. That list doesn't include former major leaguers like right handers Mark Prior, Buddy Carlyle and Brian Anderson and lefties Andrew Sisco and Neal Cotts, all of whom were signed to minor league deals with invitations to spring training. While there aren't many spots open in the New York bullpen especially if Joba Chamberlain is not given a trial run in the starting rotation there will be plenty of competition for the one or two that could be had. There could, however, be a different destination for most of these pitchers. While Turpen and Fish, the two Rule 5 draftees, would have to be offered back to their old teams and run through waivers before they could be reassigned by the Yankees, it's conceivable these could be the names that comprise what promises to be a rebuilt Scranton/Wilkes Barre rotation in 2011. The Triple A Yankees' top four pitchers in appearances in 2010 Jonathan Albaladejo, Royce Ring, Zack Segovia and Mark Melancon are all out of the organization now. Hard throwing right hander Romulo Sanchez, who was fifth in appearances, is still in the organization, but he's out of minor league options. Three avoid arbitration Speaking of pitchers, three former Scranton/Wilkes Barre stars avoided arbitration by agreeing to one year deals with the Yankees, the team announced on Tuesday. Right hander Phil Hughes, who won 18 games in 2010, agreed to a $2.7 million deal, according to reports. Joba Chamberlain a $1.4 million pact, and lefty Boone Logan got on board for $1.2 million. Gentle stretching, orthotic inserts, anti inflammatory medications, icing and rest could help treat this condition. If the pain is too much and the symptoms are recurring, more serious treatments can be tried like cortisone injections or extracorporeal shock therapy. This procedure is done using open, endoscopic or radiofrequency lesioning techniques.Patients have a success rate for plantar fascia surgery as high as 70 to 90 percent. There are potential risk factors that you need to know about such as heel hypoesthesia and flattening of the longitudinal arch. The procedure can be accomplished under local anesthesia. However recovery will take much longer. After the operation, you may be advised to wear a cast to immobilize and support your foot for as long as two or three weeks. You may also need the help of crutches to move around while your foot heals. After the cast is removed, more time may be needed for physical therapy, and this may take an additional three to four weeks.

When I was growing up all you had to do was stand up on the skateboard and roll, sounds easy enough as long as you have balance. Nowadays there are many different styles to riding a skateboard and tricks to attempt. If you are just starting out, however, here are basic instructions to get you started on your skateboarding hobby. First and foremost you'll need a skateboard. You could pick up a decent skateboard at your local Wal mart but if you are more serious about skateboarding I'd suggest visiting your local skate shop. Ask the salesperson which boards they would recommend for a beginner. Stand up on the board to make sure you are comfortable with it, imagine yourself buying shoes. (You should try the shoes on before purchasing them so don't feel silly about standing on the skateboard to get a feel for it before you purchase it.) Now that you have a skateboard, one of the most basic things to do is called "rolling." Stand up on your skateboard and balance yourself, once you are completely balanced, pivot your back foot and give yourself a little push. Place your foot back on the skateboard where you started out and let yourself roll. Practice this move a few times to get used to the rolling feeling and balancing yourself on the skateboard. The more that you practice the easier it will be to balance yourself, after doing this a few times you can start pushing yourself off the ground harder which will give you more speed. If you feel like you are losing control or are going too fast you can slow the speed of the skateboard or stop it by leaning back onto the back lip of the board. It's the same effect as roller skating when you lean forward onto the brake. Now that you know how to get yourself moving on the skateboard and you know how to brake, you'll want to know how to steer. Once you've started rolling, if you want to veer to the right simply put your weight down on the right side of the board and you'll begin a wide turn. Once you have mastered the basic skill of "rolling" you can move on to learning tricks. Start hanging out at the local skate park and befriend some of the local skaters, they will be full of information on how to do the latest tricks. Remember to wear protective gear because you are sure to have a few spills and falls while you are still learning. Just like anything new, practice makes perfect; set aside free time each day to practice your skateboarding skills. The theory behind this method is that: There is a "correct" amount of capital to apply to any contract using a paricular trading approach in Stock Market. Trading using the "correct" amount of capital will maximize the profitability experienced without sustaining a total loss of capital in Stock Market. Trading with less than the suggested amount of capital will likely result in a total loss of capital in Stock Market. Trading with more than the suggested amount of capital will result in an exponential decrease in the percentage return compared to using the "correct" amount. In brief, using a listing of actual and/or hypothetical trades generated by trading one market using a given approach, a calculation is performed and a value is arrived at between .01 and 1.00. The largest losing trade within the listing of trades is then divided by this value to arrive at the suggested amount of capital with which to trade one contract. As an example, if the largest losing trade within a particular trade listing was $2,000 and the optimal f value turns out to be 0.40, then the suggested capital amount would be $5,000 ($2,000 / 0.4). According to this theory, if you were only going to trade one contract of this one market using this one trading approach, then you should place $5,000 into your trading account. If future results mirror past results your percentage rate of return will be maximized by trading with $5,000. Also, according to the theory, if you trade with less than $5,000 you will likely "tap out" and if you trade with more than $5,000 you may trade profitably in Stock Market. However, your rate of return will be far inferior than if you had traded with $5,000. Needless to say this is a bold theory. This approach makes the assumption that future trading results will be similar to past results. If future results are far inferior to past results then the end result using optimal f can be disastrous. However, in testing using trading systems that have a positive expectation, and for which future results were similar to past results, optimal f has definitely shown the ability to increase profits exponentially compared to simply trading a preset number of contracts. Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is that using optimal f to trade one market is generally not practical. The big problem with a strict usage of optimal f is that it does not consider drawdowns in its analysis. The only measure of risk that is used is the single largest losing trade. While the case can be made that this is statistically correct, the fact of the matter is that using this method alone will invariably result in large percentage drawdowns at some point in time. Because the drawdowns that can result on a single market basis can be huge in percentage terms, most traders will not adhere to this approach long enough to enjoy the expected benefits in Stock Market. However, the goodnews is that this method can be very useful when applied across a portfolio of stock markets. Next >Who's OnlineWe have 307 guests and 1 member online Adamanels Forgot login?
